we NEED to defeat VfL Bochum
By: klaus | December 12th, 2008We may be a week from the holidays but Christoph Daum is sounding the war drums ahead of tomorrows battle against VfL Bochum and making sure his side knows it as he stated, “The players must accept the fight for survival starts tomorrow.” He went on to stress that the players must show intensity with a “fire that burns from inside-out.”
Bochum sits at the bottom of the table at eleven points with ‘Gladbach, with a single win for first half of the season. They were completely blown out 4-0 by Eintracht Frankfurt last week but generally play display a dedication towards defending and frustrated high-flying clubs Wolfsburg, Bayern, BVB and Hamburg with draws. They can’t be taken lightly or they will shut-down die Geißböcke and search for a winning strike on the counter. However Bochum manager Marcel Koller is dealing with a mountainous headache with criticism coming from all angles. Vahid Hashemian decided to air his problems with the club and because of it Koller suspended him for the match. In addition to the talkative striker, he will be without Mimoun Azaouagh, Daniel Fernandes, Danny Fuchs, Thomas Zdebel and Japanese international Shinji Ono
Köln absences are significantly easier to deal with as Pierre Wome is out with bronchitis and Petit is suspended. Expect a battle tomorrow as Köln looks to break a near twenty year streak without a victory in Bochum.

Petit is so important. I doubt that KOLN can win easily.
